I was at the waiting list and was one of the few at the waiting list that got a ticket. I should say that I was very happy when I got the email telling me that I had a number of hours to accept the available slot.

I didn't need hours, I didn't coordinate with my wife, I just accepted the slot. That was One of the best things in years I've done. With small kids you do not spend an entire day doing your own stuff. The kids are now a bit older and both me and my wife feel that we can spend day doing our own things. This Saturday was my first doing my own thing.

When I was offered the slot I started to think about what I should create. But it was not until the beginning of the same week as the event I got the idea. I realized that I had some 1-wire stuff that I bought early 2006 and never used. Some 1-wire stuff I use for temperate measurements, etc. But some other stuff was never unpacked.

On the Friday evening, the day before the event, me and my 7 yrs kid created some 1-wire cables, soldered some sensors, etc. We hocked everything up to his computer, including the never used LCD display.

At the event I got everything working using the Raspberry Pi instead of the laptop.

I hope that I inspire my kids to be creative and curious about stuff when they're in high school age.

Thanks to Daniel to put the event together and giving me the opportunity to show my kid what you can do with electronics.
