News 1 dec 2004: this service has been down/lagging for many months but I'm now on top of things and plan to provide a steady set of currencies again.
The rates on this page, although updated frequently reliable sources, may not always match the rates you find at other places. This isn't a test where there's only one correct answer. There are many currency markets all over the world, and like any other market the rates will vary from market to market.
The 'Easy Conversion Guide' was added in March 2000, with additional help from Björn Stenberg. Very often when I go abroad I start with figuring out a formula how to convert to and from the foreign currency and my own. The conversion guide does this for me! The conversion guide is designed to give the most accurate formula that also is easy to calculate, for the current rate.
Generally, published rates are indicative only. There's no guarantee you'll be able to get them locally, and they certainly don't include you financial institution's spread.
If you have ideas of what to improve or if you have faster reliable rate sources than I currently use, tell me!

I've decided to keep the rate-gathering script a secret, since I am possibly not allowed to download the rates and provide them like this, and thus showing my sources will reveal this and it will also risk that more people would use the same script and thus even more risk this service.
This service has been available since 1997. It just changed URL a few times.
