Banos, Ecuador

As soon as the bus strike ended, we were on one with destination Banos. There, we enjoyed the hot springs (50 degrees C is HOT!), many spectacular waterfalls and Ecuadorian contrylife.

Rio Pastaza.

The old lady was very concerned about us sitting too close to the edge. We almost had an argument about it. Then she grabbed her walking stick and crossed the VERY shaky bridge...

This waterfall didn't fit in one picture, but we did what we could.

Another waterfall...

...and yet another waterfall.

Typical Banos house. Only the front matters.

Horses and donkeys are still highly used for transportation to remote villages.

Toffeemakers. The one who swings the dough best will come up with the best toffee. We spent a whole afternoon sampling.

If toffee isn't sweet enough, there are sugar cane stalls.
