Panacocha 1, Ecuador

The Amazonian jungle is kind of hard to explore on your own, so we took a 5-day tour with Emerald Forest. Adolfo, Pedro, Churi and the other guides took very good care of us (they even carried our water!), and we probably wouldn't have discovered half of the animals and strange plants if it weren't for their trained eyes.

Morning in the jungle.

Silhouette of the watchtower by the lake where we stayed. Perfect for birdwatching in early mornings.

The jungle is very good at disguising animals. Quiz: how many tucan birds can you find in the picture?

Panacocha lodge, our jungle home.

The mosquitos weren't too bad, so some people slept in the hammocks.
