I didn’t expect this, and this year I wasn’t asked ahead of time if I wanted to receive this gift. It is however something of a collector’s item that I find very enjoyable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I received my GitHub contribution matrix printed in steel. This is my 2021 contribution skyline. (Click the images for higher resolution.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The thing is surprisingly heavy and sturdy. If I had papers lying around, this would an awesome paper press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might remember that I got a similar gift last year<\/a>, so it felt natural to do a comparison shot of 2021 and 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For 2020, GitHub counted 2,466<\/strong> contributions, while I reached 2,543<\/strong> in 2021. Very similar numbers, but clearly distributed very differently. The two matrix images look like this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oh, and you can of course also see a rendered version in your browsers<\/a> or download it in STL format<\/a> so that you can print using your own 3d-printer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
