It is also abandoned by the W3C these days. It seems there are just about two remaining packages depending on it, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/Amaya\/\">Amaya<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/wmweatherplus\/\">wmweather+<\/a>.<a href=\"http:\/\/curl.haxx.se\/libcurl\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/daniel.haxx.se\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/09\/ds-libcurlicon.png\" title=\"libcurl\" alt=\"libcurl\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"10\" vspace=\"10\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/Amaya\/\">Amaya<\/a> seems to at least discuss <a href=\"http:\/\/thread.gmane.org\/gmane.comp.web.amaya.general\/5126\/focus=5136\">moving over to libcurl<\/a>. I don&#8217;t know about <a href=\"http:\/\/sourceforge.net\/projects\/wmweatherplus\/\">wmweather+<\/a>, but looking at their code, I actually think switching to <a href=\"https:\/\/curl.se\/libcurl\/\">libcurl<\/a> will improve their code&#8230; not really related, but still about <a href=\"http:\/\/curl.haxx.se\/\">curl<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/thread.gmane.org\/gmane.comp.web.amaya.general\/5126\/focus=5136\">one post on the Amaya list<\/a> mentioned this weird <a href=\"http:\/\/johannburkard.de\/blog\/www\/spam\/The-top-10-spam-bot-user-agents-you-MUST-block-NOW.html\">list of user-agents you should block<\/a> from your site, as it claims they are &#8220;spam bots&#8221; and it explicitly mentions curl in there&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/darcs.net\/\">Darcs<\/a> is however currently <a href=\"http:\/\/thread.gmane.org\/gmane.comp.lang.haskell.cafe\/33159\/focus=6794\">adding support for libwww<\/a> since it apparently does pipelining better, where as <a href=\"http:\/\/curl.haxx.se\/mail\/lib-2007-12\/0248.html\">libcurl still has some flaws<\/a> in its support for that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s talk in the Debian camp about dropping libwww as it is over 5 years since its last release and over a year since the last CVS commit in that project.
