{"id":258,"date":"2008-01-16T12:53:19","date_gmt":"2008-01-16T11:53:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daniel.haxx.se\/blog\/2008\/01\/16\/slashdot-pirate-party-propaganda\/"},"modified":"2008-01-16T12:53:19","modified_gmt":"2008-01-16T11:53:19","slug":"slashdot-pirate-party-propaganda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daniel.haxx.se\/blog\/2008\/01\/16\/slashdot-pirate-party-propaganda\/","title":{"rendered":"Slashdot pirate party propaganda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I bounced at reading the following quote at <a href=\"http:\/\/yro.slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=08\/01\/16\/0133213\">Slashdot<\/a> today: &#8220;<em>Moreover, the people of Sweden are decidedly on their side, with the Pirate Party, which is sympathetic to TPB&#8217;s cause, being one of the top ten political parties in the country.&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Facts: In our <a href=\"http:\/\/sv.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Svenska_riksdagsvalet_2006\">last election 2006<\/a>, roughly 34,000 Swedes voted for &#8220;Piratpartiet&#8221; which actually made it the 10th most voted-for party in Sweden. That is 0.63% of the votes.<\/p>\n<p>Does this really make &#8220;the people of Sweden&#8221; on their side? Who would say something like that? Oh, look at who submitted the <a href=\"http:\/\/yro.slashdot.org\/article.pl?sid=08\/01\/16\/0133213\">Slashdot<\/a> post&#8230; Not even shy about it, the poster links to  http:\/\/www.pirate-party.us\/ &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>But sure, it was one of the top ten Swedish parties in 2006 &#8211; the tenth to be exact. There&#8217;s unfortunately no newer numbers to be found anywhere since most polls tend to lump all the &#8220;little parties&#8221; together in a single number and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dn.se\/DNet\/jsp\/polopoly.jsp?d=1042&amp;a=720191\">november 2007<\/a> that number was 1.2% of the votes and Piratpartiet only one of many in there&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I bounced at reading the following quote at Slashdot today: &#8220;Moreover, the people of Sweden are decidedly on their side, with the Pirate Party, which is sympathetic to TPB&#8217;s cause, being one of the top ten political parties in the country.&#8221;.
